The Purpose of the Course
The Trainer’s EDGE replaces the Trainer Development Conference (BSA 500) as the required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs.
The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media.
Each participant will need to come prepared to give a 5-10 minute presentation on a Scouting-related topic of your choice. You will be responsible for bringing all that you will need for your presentation (i.e. flip chart, markers, props, etc.) It is recommended that you do not use PowerPoint or computers, as there will not be projection units for each group.
Location & Time
The course is scheduled for February 1, 2014. Registration/check in will start at 8 a.m. with the course being over by 4:30 pm.
Lunch will be provided. Don’t forget your water bottle to use throughout the day.
